COMMON QUESTIONS.
Do I need my own Anthropic API key?
Yes — TheDotSpot sends post text to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis. Get a free key at console.anthropic.com. It costs around $0.003 per 1,000 tokens — analyzing hundreds of posts daily costs just pennies.
Does it work on images and videos too?
Currently TheDotSpot analyzes the text content of posts, captions, and comments. Image and video AI detection is coming in a future update.
Is my data private?
Your API key is stored only on your device in Chrome's local storage. Post text is sent directly to Anthropic's API — we never see it, log it, or store it on our servers.
Which platforms are supported?
Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, Reddit, Facebook, and TikTok. More platforms coming soon.
Will it slow down my browser?
Minimal impact. Posts are analyzed one at a time with a small delay between each. The extension adds no noticeable lag to page rendering or scrolling.
